First, Walter Jeworski, Sound Engineer & Mixer at Blue Door Recording Studio, will talk about navigating the recording process, covering key areas such as preparing for the studio, choosing the right producer, practical tips to make the most of your studio time, mixing and mastering, and what you should walk away with at the end of a session.
Next, Ben Valiaho, Education & Program Manager at SaskMusic, will explore what comes after your song is recorded. He’ll discuss topics such as registering your music, planning your release strategy, distribution options, accessing grants and funding, and pitching your track.
A question-and-answer session will follow. Bring your notebooks and your questions as we dive into what follows the songwriting, and how to record and release your song to the world.
WALTER JEWORSKI BIO
Walter Jeworski is one of Saskatchewan’s most prominent producers and audio engineers, best known for his signature hi-fi mixing and mastering style and his commitment to sonic fidelity.
With over 100 million streams/views across his credited discography, he ranks within the top 2% of both mixing and mastering engineers worldwide, as cited by MUSO. His own artist project, GHSTWRLD, has also amassed over 2 million streams on Spotify alone.
He is currently the chief engineer at Saskatchewan’s premier commercial recording studio, Blue Door Recording, based in Regina.
After earning his ARCT Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Music Production and Engineering, he worked at the renowned MSR Studios in New York City, contributing to major projects for artists such as Usher, D’Angelo, and J. Cole, most notably D’Angelo’s Grammy-winning album Black Messiah and J. Cole’s Grammy-nominated album 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
Since relocating back to Regina, Saskatchewan, Walter has produced, mixed, and mastered projects for award-winning artists such as Jeffrey Straker, Ella Forrest, Merv xx Gotti, Rooky Kamiz, TOVA, Zochi, Poor Nameless Boy, and MELODNA, contributing to work that has been recognized by the Saskatchewan Music Awards (SMAs), Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMAs), and more.
His work spans a wide range of genres, including pop, hip hop, country, R&B, EDM, folk, and rock. He continues to push the standard of sonic excellence in Saskatchewan, helping shape the sound of a new generation of artists.
BEN VALIAHO BIO
Ben first got his start working in the industry as producer and volunteer host at 91.3FM CJTR Regina Community Radio over twenty years ago, hosting two radio shows on Community Radio as well as working as the station's producer. Ben was also involved on the Community Radio Board of Directors for eight years (2013 to 2020) in various capacities, including President, and was honoured to receive the "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2020 from the station.
His commitment to music continued within the halls of the University of Regina, where he enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Studies Masters Program with a focus on live performance. While attending the university, Ben worked as Research Assistant at the Interactive Media & Performances Labs (IMP Labs) on campus, teaching workshops and hosting community hours for those who wanted to learn how to make electronic music, scratch records, or record.
Ben started his career at SaskMusic as Admin Assistant beginning in 2018, learning the music industry and supporting the artists and industry of Saskatchewan. Currently, Ben is the Education & Program Manager at SaskMusic where he plans, implements, and runs various workshops, conferences, and summits for the music industry of Saskatachewan (with the help of the wonderful SaskMusic team!).
Ben has been a turntablist for over twenty-five years, hosts DJ nights in Regina, streams every Monday night on Twitch, as well as DJing a number of events in and around Regina solo and as part of the duo 2Beats.

REGINA SONGWRITERS GROUP
The Regina Songwriters Group exists to develop the craft of songwriting and provide a peer network of songwriters, lyricists, composers and beatmakers. Meetings are generally held once a month with additional songwriting exercises, resources and information shared on socials.
