Conservatory Group Program Showcase – Day 1

When

  • May 24, 2026 - Showtime: 6:30pm

The Conservatory Group Program Showcase is a multi-day event with performances including music and dance. The event showcases both youth and adult students studying at the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts.

Performances for DAY 1 will include the following (in performance order):

The Conservatory Pipe Band will be showcasing their pipes and drums loud and proud! Be prepared for both familiar and unfamiliar tunes as we transport you to Scotland with a variety of traditional and new repertoire with Regina's only youth pipe band. This group is led by Iain MacDonald, with teaching support from Barbara MacDonald, Laura Schmeling, Pat Luchenski, with assistance from Jenah Healy.

The Conservatory Adult Bagpipe Programs include classes for complete beginners playing bagpipes for the first time in addition to classes for amateur players who want a chance to keep playing their bagpipes outside of a band setting. These groups are led by Iain MacDonald with support from Alex Rasmussen.

Our Contemporary Dance class helps adult learners focus on retraining the way they see and use their bodies, developing good alignment, posture, and core strength, whilst integrating grace, confidence, and presence. This performance is led by dancer and choreography Karen Rose.

The Regina Community Orchestra welcomes youth, adult, and senior musicians interested in playing orchestral music in a fun and safe environment. The orchestra provides opportunity to develop musical skills, socialize with others, and perform in the wider community. This course is open to anyone ages 13+ without audition. The orchestra is directed by Ryan Wheler.

There will be a short intermission between the Contemporary Dance and the Regina Community Orchestra to reset the stage.
