Join singer songwriter pianist Jeffery Straker for this intimate concert at Parlour Barber Shop, Yorkton SK No advance ticketing - admission payable at the door ($25pp) Singer-songwriter pianist Jeffery Straker serves up a rootsy-storytelling brand of song that has been said to transport listeners - out onto a northern Canadian Lake or to the main street of a prairie town. With lyrics underscored by a message of hope and a sense of familiarity, critical comparisons have been drawn to the likes of his influencers - Kris Kristofferson, Jackson Browne and Murray McLauchlan. On the national stage Straker received the 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award for ‘Contemporary Folk Singer of the Year’ & back at home in Saskatchewan he’s twice been named 'Roots-Folk Artist of the Year'. He released his ninth recording “Great Big Sky” in 2024, steeped in prairie-themes. AmericanaUK praised it saying “With emotional and sonic depth this is an album we’d thoroughly recommend”. Unexpected royal recognition came from H.M. King Charles III who was moved by the album after it made its way into Buckingham Palace. Performances have taken Jeffery across Canada (including shows in prairie grain elevators), on multiple UK tours and he was chosen to represent the country in a week-long residency of shows in Osaka Japan at Expo’25. Wherever he performs his audience connections are stand-out and CBC Radio has said: “He has a way of drawing us into his world, making us feel like we’re an old friend he’s ready to catch up with”.
