Elizabeth Shepherd and Michael Occhipinti make up ES:MO. They’re two imaginative musicians who push against the boundaries of genres to explore the new. Michael’s huge colour palette of guitar sounds, combined with Elizabeth’s keyboard work and soulful and ethereal voice, interlock in a moving pairing, as evidenced by their debut album, The Weight of Hope, which was nominated for a 2022 Juno award. The duo’s love of new harmony and rhythm matches with their love of great songwriters, R&B, funk, electronic soundscapes, folk, poetry, and orchestral traditions.
