Description

Set Piece is a new group formed at the beginning of 2024 featuring members of The Jump Off and Black Thunder. Taking their name from the most elaborate sequence in a film, the group draws heavily from filmmaking both directly and metaphorically in their lyrical themes. Sonically, Set Piece takes influence from the raw aggression and attitude of 90’s post-hardcore (Drive Like Jehu, Unwound) meshing it with the rhythms, textures, and pop sensibility of 80s post-punk and new wave (Wire, Killing Joke). The result is a brash, confrontational sound that is equal parts catchy and nuanced.

Set Piece released their first self-titled EP on June 13, 2025. The EP is self-produced with the group taking a DIY approach wherever they can.
