Since the age of 16 Motorhome Records recording artist, guitarist, singer, songwriter
Whitey Somers has been performing internationally at festivals, concerts and clubs,
on the bill with many talented and well known musicians, too many to mention. There's been
a lot of shows over the last 48 years. Whitey currently performs solo acoustic shows, with
"Whitey Somers Band" and as bassist/vocalist for “The Screaming Gas”. As a side man and
session player Whitey has lent his talents to many artist‘s work.
Having lived in Ontario, Alberta, B.C. and now residing in Shaunavon Sask. Whitey's songs
are a reflection of life and times, through Canadian eyes. "I grew up in a house full of musical
influences. There was always something spinnin’ on the turntable or someone visiting with a
guitar". Music filled my life, and still does. The road is long!
As a nephew of Canadian composer Harry Somers, Whitey Somers found an early love of
music, a pool he most happily dove into.

Whitey's song "The Call Of The Blues" ( the title track from his latest CD release )
made the the semi-finals of the Unsigned Only International Music Competition.
The album charted well and is still getting worldwide airplay and recognition.

    Roots & Blues man Whitey Somers heading to Memphis!

    BREAKING NEWS!

    Shaunavon SK. Roots & Blues recording artist and SaskMusic member Whitey Somers recently won "The Road To Memphis" challenge at Buds on Broadway in Saskatoon on September 30th. The local guitarist, singer-songwriter performed an all original set of Roots & Blues music to win and will go on to represent The Saskatoon Blues Society in Memphis, Tennessee at the 41st. International Blues 
    Challenge, January 13-17, 2026. He will be competing with blues musicians from all over the world.
