At only 22 years old, Matt Johner is no stranger to the music scene. For the past 7 years, he has been touring western Canada as the drummer and backing vocalist for the established group, the Johner Brothers. Born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Matt’s musical upbringing laid the foundation for his deep-rooted connection to country music. Now, with years of knowledge and experience, Matt is embarking on his solo career as a country singer/songwriter.
Matt's solo career began at open mic nights, where he honed his craft at centre stage. He began to build a following and local venues took notice, inviting him to play his own headlining shows (Capitol Music Club, Blackrose Whiskey Club, Flats Eatery, etc…). Drawing inspiration from the likes of Zac Brown, Keith Urban, and '90s country, Matt infuses traditional country elements with a modern twist, creating a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.
In June 2024, Matt released his debut single, “D.U.I.”, co-written with his brother Luc Johner. While Matt has written songs for The Johner Brothers and The Johner Boys, he is proud to finally be releasing a single under his own name. With his sights set on the future and more original songs to be released, this is only the beginning for the emerging solo artist.

D.U.I. - Debut Single
