Description

The Flatland Fiddling Studio is a lesson studio for all ages of learning, and for all types fiddle music! The core of the studio is its focus on private lessons, personalized for each student and their learning goals, with basic skill building using both contemporary and classical technique. The secondary mission of the studio is to build community through group lessons, jams, workshops, and gigs/recitals/concerts that can provide engagement with the community!

The Flatland Fiddling Studio is run by Emily Dubois, and is currently taking on new students!

Emily is a fiddler that originally hails from the tiny town of Langbank, Saskatchewan. Growing up, she spent her summers learning tunes from amazing instructors from across Canada and making lifelong fiddle friends at the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party, one of the most popular fiddle camps in SK.
Her time at fiddle camp eventually led her to the West Coast, where she studied under Ivonne Hernandez and Daniel Lapp for 5 years while being in the youth group Coastline and taking her diploma of Music Performance at the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
When she is not teaching in her studio, you can find her collaborating on arrangements or recordings, playing/gigging with bands such as Black Angus (Victoria, BC), and running administration with North Shore Celtic Ensemble and the Serena Eades Academy of Music.
