Description
Carson Shmyr is a young musician from Saskatoon, SK, Canada. Starting his career at only fourteen years old, Carson has worked with artists and teams across the world over the last decade to create a unique sonic experience and artistic identity. Deeply rooted in a jazz piano background, Carson's genres range in every direction, from Neo-Soul to Folk. Carson is a "self-taught but classically trained pianist", with over fifteen years of experience behind the ivory, and now works as a piano and vocal teacher for Studio 12 Music & Dance in Saskatoon where he's provided music education to over 150 students since 2023. He's also a fun and flamboyant saxophone player who's solos will take you to another time.
Carson has worked with many organizations over the year including; The Singers Company (Toronto, 2017-2019), MK's Music Management (Atlanta, 2020-2021), Horizon Music Group (Nashville, 2021-2022), Remedy Music Label (Saskatoon, 2023-2024) and is now self represented with his company Lighthouse Productions (Since 2023). He's worked as an executive studio engineer and designed studio spaces internationally, been part of the creative process on multi-platinum selling songs, and managed national tours for Saskatchewan musicians.
When performing live, Carson leans into crowd favourites that fit the genre of each establishment, and creates a healthy mix of recognizable songs and his own original works. Inspired by performers such as Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong & Dean Martin, Carson's voice and mannerisms on stage are reminiscent of a departed generation of musicians.
