Description

Hello! My name is Jaxon Lalonde. I've been playing banjo for 13 years and performing professionally since I was a teenager. I also play upright bass, electric bass, and I sing. I offer music lessons, mostly for banjo and bass, although I have taught ukulele and vocal harmony in the past. See below for my teaching and performance experience, as well as some videos of my playing. My going rate is $30 for an hour lesson. I can do weekly, bi-weekly, or whatever works. I can meet in person or teach lessons remotely over Zoom. Feel free to reach out if you're interested or you have any questions!

My teaching experience: In August 2021 I acted as an instructor at the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Time Music Camp at Ness Creek, SK. With my friend Ellen Froese, we taught a three-day vocal harmony workshop to 9 attendees. It was great fun! I've been teaching since 2019 and as of February 2022, I've taught private music lessons to around 10 individual students on banjo, upright and electric bass and ukulele. During COVID I taught lessons online via Zoom for a few months.

My performance experience: I've performed throughout Western Canada and several times in the U.S with my first band, In With The Old. In 2019 I played electric bass with Saskatoon's Gunner and Smith on a European tour through Germany, Switzerland and Italy. My main project now, The Local Group, just recorded our second album of original material and traditional folk covers, and we plan on touring throughout the summer. I also currently play banjo and sing harmonies with Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys, and I also play bass, banjo, and sing in the country cover band, The Salt Licks, along with Ellen Froese and members of Kacy and Clayton, Ride Til Dawn, the Seahags and the Barrelmen.
