Jivin’ Jackie first noticed Big Baby T when she heard him croon Louis Jordan’s “Knock Me a Kiss,” and when Big Baby T heard Jivin’ Jackie emulate Professor Longhair’s rolling triplets on the piano, well, they realized they just had to get together. For 20 years now, they’ve been making beautiful music, and along the way they’ve headlined many events, including the Cajun Swamp Stomp for the Battlefords Jazz Society, and opened for such groups as Five Alarm Funk out of Vancouver. Captivated by the diverse sounds of the music of New Orleans, Jivin’ Jackie and Big Baby T lead a talented group of Saskatchewan musicians in a lively ensemble that celebrates both the swinging rhythm ‘n’ blues of the Crescent City and the boisterous blast of its famous second-line brass ensembles.
