Oscar's Hollow is an exciting new band in Saskatoon’s flourishing music scene. Formed in
2016 by Lee Harris and Kris Mihilewicz, two singer/songwriters who both move easily
between rhythm and lead guitar, this 5-piece already boasts a rich catalogue of original
material and stylized covers. Although Mihilewicz and Harris both have distinctive individual
styles, these blend and synergize within Oscar’s Hollow in ways reminiscent of Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor (Blue Rodeo). The group's sound evokes comparisons to The Band or perhaps Wilco, spanning a broad spectrum of styles and genres as Harris and Mihilewicz are joined by Kurt Burnett on drums and percussion, Darryl Dozlaw on keyboards and other sundries, and Byron Shaw on bass and guitar. Oscar’s Hollow is proud to announce that their first official single is out this week.
Mary is a perfect introduction to the sound of the Hollow- the song is an infectious folk rock blend of guitar hook and harmonica heat supporting a memorable melody that delivers a thoughtful lyric. The single was mixed and mastered at Pulsworks Audio Arts in Saskatoon.
Oscar's Hollow was formed in 2016 by Lee Harris and Kris Mihilewicz, both on guitars and lead vocals, joined by Kurt Burnett on drums and percussion, Darryl Dozlaw on keyboards, harp and other sundries, and Byron Shaw on bass and guitar. Everybody sings.
The group has already shared stages with All Mighty Voice, and Autopilot, evoking comparisons to Blue Rodeo and The Band and offering what River Road Festival organizer Christine Tienkamp calls “A definite crowd-pleasing performance.” Future plans include the release of their first EP and some touring in 2018.
