Code of Conduct
SaskMusic Code of Conduct
SaskMusic is a non-profit, member-based association that represents, promotes, and develops the artists and music industry of Saskatchewan, Canada. Our code applies to our members, staff, and in some cases, to participants in the programs we offer.
We have recently undertaken significant work on our Code and will be posting an update here shortly.
We believe that people of all races, genders, ages, religions, physical abilities, and sexualities have the right to be and feel safe, respected, and welcome to participate in our programming. We will not tolerate racism, discrimination, bullying, harassment, or violence involving or directed towards staff, board, members, or participants within our offices or at events that SaskMusic presents.
SaskMusic:
- Has offered safer spaces, antiracism, and related training for staff, board, and membership, and will continue to provide opportunities for board and staff to engage in safe spaces, anti-racism, and DEI training and awareness;
- Will prioritize the use of accessible venues that effectively implement safe spaces policies and/or codes of conduct;
- Will broadly apply a code of conduct to current members (as agreed to during the member registration process);
- Will identify specific programs where those participating are required to adhere to a code of conduct.

SaskMusic's Conflict of Interest Policy
SaskMusic maintains guidelines and procedures regarding real and apparent conflicts of interest for individuals who are Board, staff or committee members of SaskMusic in order to ensure high standards of ethical conduct, uphold fiduciary responsibilities, and maintain public trust.
This policy can be found in our Policy Guide, downloadable here (PDF).
Where a specific intake, program, or project has additional or non-standard conflict-of-interest provisions, these will be noted within the project information.
If you have concerns that a staff member may not be acting in good faith, or that a conflict of interest is not being appropriately managed, please contact the Executive Director. We will review concerns in accordance with our policies.
Diversity drives the creative spirit.
SaskMusic is committed to representing music industry members of our province across race, gender identity, age, religion, disability, and sexual orientation. We believe a broad mix of minds, musical styles, cultural backgrounds and individual experiences makes for a stronger industry. As a membership organization, we strive to encourage, support, and celebrate the many voices of our community, with intentional strategies to welcome engagement from historically marginalized identities and people within our industry.
Work is ongoing on our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies.
