You must be a current, in good standing Individual, Band or Corporate Member of SaskMusic to vote on any motions and elections presented. Youth Members and guests of members are also welcome to observe this event but do not receive voting privileges.

The main items of business to be dealt with at this Annual General Meeting are noted below.

Our Board of Directors has up to 12 seats. There are six seats up for election or re-election at this AGM. Each position is a 2-year term.

Continuing in the second year of their current terms are Alex Urzada, Evan Thompson, Marian Donnelly, Matt Stinn, Royal Wood, and Walter Jeworski. Eligible to run for re-election are Arjun Shankar, Christopher Tessmer, Katie M. Newman, and Xuan Deng. Two seats are presently vacant.

In order to run for a seat on the board, a signed nomination form must be received at SaskMusic before 5pm CST June 14, 2026. Valid nominations will then be included in the board of directors elections. We invite all interested and eligible candidates to submit their nomination form or contact us for further information before the nomination deadline.

Board expectations follow.

Access the nomination form here.

If we receive at least 7 valid nominations by the deadline, online voting will proceed and remain open until the AGM.
Members may vote once in total at any time from the time the poll opens, to the time the poll closes during the AGM.

If we receive 6 or fewer nominations by the deadline, candidates will be recognized by the membership for appointment to the board at the AGM.

Voting information/updates will be forwarded to eligible members on/around June 17. At that time you’ll receive information on the nominees, last year’s minutes and other AGM materials, and be able to access online voting (if applicable).

BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ EXPECTATIONS

If you would like to be more involved in the Saskatchewan music industry and contribute directly to the development and policies of SaskMusic, please consider running for a position on our Board of Directors. Nominees, and one nominator endorsing each nominee, must be a current Individual, Band, or Corporate member in good standing, not expiring before June 28/2026.

Directors should be experienced, active and enthusiastic about the music industry. Our Board makes policy for and develops the strategic direction of SaskMusic. These are volunteer positions, however, expenses are covered for approved out-of-town duties or board events. Members residing anywhere in Saskatchewan are welcome and encouraged to run. Each position is a two-year term.

Knowledge of board governance and non-profit organizations would be helpful, but is not necessary. The commitments requested of a Director vary year to year, but generally include:

We encourage interest from candidates with a wide range of lived experiences and varying levels of music industry knowledge, as well as individuals outside the music sector who bring experience or interest in non-profit or creative industries board work.

As our board should reflect our membership, we strongly encourage and welcome nominations from individuals who identify as Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or as persons living with disabilities. We believe a broad mix of minds, musical styles, cultural backgrounds and individual experiences makes for a stronger industry. As a membership organization, we are committed to supporting, celebrating, and amplifying the many voices of our community.

SaskMusic members are required to follow our Code of Conduct policy, posted here.

Our 2025 Annual Report is posted here (PDF).
