in Saskatoon. Attend on Friday February 20 or Saturday February 21, 2026
University of Saskatchewan

  • Applications to be one of the Live Demo Performance Bands close midnight February 9/26

Calling young artists and aspiring music professionals!

Are you interested in music – maybe a musician, singer, songwriter or aspiring producer - and curious to learn more about performing and the music business itself? SaskMusic is offering an exciting opportunity for youth (ages 14 to 25) to learn more about the industry from local music professionals with hands-on workshops and panel presentations.

Evolution will be a unique opportunity for you to receive information and guidance to get started in the right direction, and meet others who are passionate about music.

We’re gathering working artists and industry professionals to mentor you through topics such as musicianship (with sessions for vocals, bass, guitar, etc), self-promotions, stage skills, and other topics geared to those curious about the music scene.

This one-day summit will be offered on two dates. You can attend on Friday, February 20 or Saturday, February 21.

Registration:
FREE for SaskMusic Members, or
$30 for Non-Members (Includes a complementary 1-year SaskMusic Membership)

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (Free registration provided for parent or guardian.)

If cost is a barrier: a number of Travel Bursaries will be offered. You may apply for this during registration.

Bursaries will assist with admission and minor travel costs (mileage allowance for one vehicle from the location noted in your registration; and 1-2 hotel nights dependant on distance travelling). You will be contacted with the results of your application for the bursary, and the amount offered if approved.

Click to see Summit Schedule and Register

Summit schedule is mirrored on each day, with events at the University of Saskatchewan Education Building.

Apply for Live Performance sessions! 7-9pm on the evening of each summit day, these will feature artists performing a couple of tracks for feedback from live performance coaches. A great opportunity to get tips on polishing your live show! Solo, duos, trios, and up to 4-piece bands can apply. Applications to be one of the Live Demo Performance Bands close midnight February 9.

Regina Songwriters February promo

SaskMusic x Regina Songwriters: Creative Connection & Co-Writing

Sunday, February 22, 7:00-9:00 pm SK Time
Online via Zoom. Register HERE
Free to attend, and songwriters of all skill levels and styles welcome!

This month is all about collaboration - co-writing and connecting with your fellow songwriters. We’ll kick things off with introductions similar to a real co-writing session, sharing things like your favourite songwriters, the styles you gravitate toward, and what you think makes a great song. Once we’ve gotten to know each other, we’ll walk through some co-writing fundamentals before breaking into small groups for a short, low-pressure co-writing session.

The goal is to get a hands-on introduction to co-writing, experience the creative energy of writing together, and collaboratively write a chorus in a supportive, relaxed environment.

Performance Masterclass Weekend:
Luther Mallory "Destroy the Stage"

Registration opens shortly!

SaskMusic is thrilled to present a performance masterclass with Luther Mallory. He'll be bringing his incredible two-day workshop Destroy the Stage, to Saskatoon, March 14-25, 2026! For those who can't attend the weekend - or want to keep learning - there will be an additional 2-hour mini-seminar offered on the evening of March 15.

Destroy The Stage is Luther Mallory's high-energy, transformational performance coaching for artists who want to get out of their heads and fully into the moment on stage.

Through practical, immediately usable tools - voice, movement, storytelling, audience engagement, and focus - artists learn to break patterns of overthinking and harsh self-judgment that weaken connection.

The result is a more present, expressive performance with fewer fear barriers, more vulnerability, more risk-taking, and a stronger bond with the audience.

Luther Mallory is an Artist Performance Coach, keynote speaker, and music artist who helps performers build magnetic stage presence by breaking the overthinking and harsh self-judgment that weaken audience connection. A former touring musician with 10 years on the road and 1,000+ shows, he's coached more than 1,000 artists and serves as the Performance Coach for the JUNO Masterclass, as well as CMI's Artist Entrepreneur programs.

Watch for registration to open in the coming days!

With thanks to Creative Saskatchewan.

SAY NO to AI Training on Unlicensed MUsic SOCAN AI poster

SOCAN CREATORS' RIGHTS CAMPAIGN

SOCAN has launched a letter writing campaign advocating for creators' rights. They state, "Canadian music is being taken: without permission, without credit, and without payment. AI companies are scraping and copying music creators’ work to train their systems, threatening the livelihoods of the people who make the music. This isn’t progress. It’s theft.

Right now, the Government of Canada is making decisions that will shape the future of music and AI. With your participation, along with the thousands of signatures we expect to gather, we can make it unmistakably clear: AI companies must not be allowed to use your work for free or without your permission.

This is the moment to defend human-made music and ensure it remains valued and protected in Canada."

As posted on their social media, "Technology should support creators, not steal from them. AI companies must not be allowed to use Canadian music without consent or compensation. Stand with us to protect human creativity. Add your voice, SIGN TODAY."

Songwriters Association of Canada in sharing the campaign noted,

"We are not anti-technology. But we are anti-theft, and we are pro-human."

SaskMusic agrees with these sentiments, and encourages you to visit the link to learn more and consider signing the letter, and share with your connections - non-creatives (as allies) can sign as well.
