Regina Songwriters March 24

Lyric Writing! Inspired by Magnetic Poetry©

Sunday, March 24, 200-4:00 pm

Neil Balkwill Centre, 2420 Elphinstone St, Regina
or to attend by Zoom register here: https://shorturl.at/mqyS1

SaskMusic and Regina Songwriters welcome songwriters of all skill levels and genres to join us for a fun and free workshop for this month's meetup, inspired by Magnetic Poetry. If you haven’t owned a set, it’s a collection of interesting words and word fragments that can spur all sorts of ideas for your poetry and lyrics. We’ll be passing out words and rearranging phrases and verses. We’ll also have a song share - with a particular focus on hearing songs that need help. Bring your unfinished songs, your unsatisfying bridges, and hookless choruses, and get feedback from the collective that may help you get over the hurdle.

All skill levels & styles welcome!
Whether you're just getting started or a veteran songwriter, join us and meet up with other local songwriters!

Things you may want to bring: Something to take notes, water bottle, guitar (optional).

SOCAN

SOCAN 101: How to Register Your Works

Hosted by SOCAN
March 20, 1-2pm CST time (Free)

with Claire Boué (Administrative Coordinator, Creative Team, SOCAN).

Registering a work in your SOCAN online account can be confusing the first time. This Webinar will help you with the do's and don'ts.

There are three key sections to your work registration, and they’ll walk you through in detail on how to complete each of them in your online account - going over common mistakes and how to ensure you don’t make them, and, how you can verify that the registration has been received.

Whenever your music is used on TV, radio, streaming services, performed live or used as background music – or – when it is copied or reproduced on streaming services, as downloads, or on CD and vinyl records, royalties are owed to you.

You will be confident in your ability to register your works and know that you’ve taken an important first step in ensuring you receive the royalties you’ve earned.

Come with your questions!
