Vocal Health

Vocal Health: Its Importance with Jenna Nash

In this session, Jenna Nash will help participants learn why vocal health is important for both singers and speakers alike, guide them through exercises to try, provide vocal activities people can do at home, and information on the type of voice specialists folks can see for further voice work.

Soprano Jenna Nash has been immersed in the arts all her life growing up on a farm near Mortlach, Saskatchewan. A graduate of the B.A. in Music Vocal Performance program from Briercrest College and Seminary (2013), she has sung on many different stages including the Mae Wilson Theatre in Moose Jaw, Carnegie Hall in New York City, and the Regina Folk Festival. Her voice has appeared in several recordings, most recently on the track “My Own Heart” from Soft Focus Futures (2021), and previously on “Salted Salamanders” from Seeker (2017) by JUNO-nominated artist Megan Nash. Jenna is currently the Choir Director at St. Andrews United Church in Moose Jaw and opened her own voice lesson studio in 2021.

Everyone has the ability to learn how to sing, and her goal is to make learning as accessible as possible because singing is for everyone.

A free Culture Days event presented by SaskMusic. Everyone welcome.

Musician Seeking Gigs?

The Saskatchewan Music Directory provides listings of freelance players available for live shows and studio recordings, and is our main referral point to those who call looking to hire musicians/singers. We want to know about you! Visit www.saskmusic.org to login to your existing account, or to join (free 'subscriber' option available) and add your listings. (Sask-based players only.)

The more information the better! Remember to include your specific instrument, styles you specialize in/techniques (ie fingerstyle, rhythm, lead), location, description of experience, and links to videos/examples if available for best results. You can create multiple listings with different descriptions if you play multiple instruments! Think about what people would want to know before reaching out to a player, and include that information in your entry.
