Work Placement

SaskMusic: Seeking Applications for Student Work Placement

SaskMusic has obtained a grant from the Government of Canada via the Cultural Human Resources Council of Canada to bring on a student for a full-time 18-week internship this fall-winter.

Our intern will work alongside our staff in an administrative capacity, assisting with tasks including data entry and research collection, outreach to individuals in the music industry, and helping to provide information and resources to our membership. The intern will help us with various projects including the Very Prairie Music Summit and Saskatchewan Music Awards (which may be presented online this year), and the marketing of the Saskatchewan music industry.

This opening will be of interest to an individual who has a passion for music and/or the arts and would like to learn hands-on about the music industry, and the day-to-day workings of a busy non-profit association, while garnering practical administrative experience.

Closing the Gap

National Survey: Closing the Gap

“Closing the Gap: Impact and Representation of Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour (IBPOC) Live Music Workers in Canada” is a national research project led by the Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA) and its partners.

The study is designed to provide a more detailed picture of the opportunities for, and barriers to, addressing racism and discrimination in the live music sector. The study’s findings and recommendations will inform the development of an industry-wide action plan to implement more inclusive practices nationwide.

Anyone and everyone working in the live music community across Canada is encouraged to participate. Those completing the survey will have a chance to win a random draw for a $200 gift card every week the survey is open. A final report outlining the study’s findings and recommendations will be made publicly available at the conclusion of the research later this year at: www.canadianlivemusic.ca.
