Featured Mentor - Niko Stratis
Niko Stratis is a Toronto based writer, consultant and manager of their own independent record company, Headless Owl Music. They have previously worked as an Executive Director of a Music Industry Association, president of music festivals, concert promoter and more. With Headless Owl, they have decided to make a move in the industry from primarily releasing, selling and promoting albums to working as a consultant and facilitator to increase awareness, visibility and opportunity for trans and queer artists in the industry. They also still work with artists as an artist manager - releasing records, sending CD's to radio stations, networking and writing what feels like a million emails. Niko is a trans woman, one of few working in the industry in a public capacity, and hopes to hear from, help and boost more queer and trans artists.
Niko joins the Career Tracks program to provide consultation and assistance with questions including: album release planning, college radio mailouts and tracking, PR, marketing, researching & securing funding, networking, tour planning & logistics, and artist budgeting.
