The Indigenous Music Series is a set of events designed to aid Indigenous artists, musicians, songwriters and other industry members in navigating and accelerating their careers in the music industry. It is set to take place in a hybrid format with both online and in-person sessions. 

Participants of the series meet to discuss, learn, and practice new skills. It is meant to be taught by influential Indigenous artists, musicians, and industry members that continue to pave a way for Indigenous artists to practice and express their arts. Signing up will provide you with updates, resources and information as program events are announced. New participants will be accepted throughout the course of the program.

Register now for a performance spot by emailing denny@saskmusic.org. Amps and drum kit will be provided. Bring your own guitar/bass and sticks.

SaskMusic x Regina Songwriters: Writing to a Live Groove

Free to attend, and songwriters of all skill levels and styles welcome!

Join us for a fun, casual, and free songwriting workshop where creativity meets live rhythm.

We’re excited to welcome the drummer (Ukeme Enoch) and bassist (John Olaleke) from ELEV8, who will lay down a series of short, dynamic grooves designed to spark fresh songwriting ideas. You’ll even get to choose the styles and vibes you’d like to write to, making this a truly interactive experience.

We’ll spend time writing to these live grooves, and then wrap up with a song share.

Please note: due to the live music component, this session will be held in person only and will not be available on Zoom.

Tune in on March 29 for the 2026 JUNO Awards and show your support for Canadian Music!

 

Several artists from Saskatchewan have been nominated this year, including:

  • Lloydminster's Elenee, nominated in Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year for "the light that leads to YOU". Elenee was also nominated in this category last year! 

  • Yorkton's Collect.Assembly, also nominated in Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year for "Outlaw Gospel". This is their first JUNO nod!

  • Sask-born Katherine Dowling, with her first nomination in Classical Album of the Year (Solo Artist) for "Awake and Dreaming".

  • Foxwarren: with Winston Hacking nominated for Music Video of the Year for their release, "Listen2me".

And Katie Tupper will be hitting the stage at JUNOfest on Friday, March 27 in Hamilton, ON.

International Songwriting Competition 
2025 Saskatchewan Finalists & Semi-Finalists

 

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is an annual song contest whose mission is to provide the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena. ISC is designed to nurture the musical talent of songwriters on all levels and promote excellence in the art of songwriting. Learn more about the competition here

Music Managers Forum Canada: National Music Management Study

Music Managers Forum Canada is launching the first nation-wide study of music management in Canada. An in-depth data-backed picture of who music managers in Canada are, how they work, what their obstacles are, and what they need to build sustainable careers. 

There are additional short-form surveys for music industry professionals to get a well-rounded understanding of the management sector’s impact. This research, led by Music Managers Forum Canada, has the potential to create a lasting, positive ripple effect on policymaking, industry standards, working conditions, training, services, advocacy, supports, and visibility for managers across the country.
