First SaskMusic Autumn Concert Series set for September 9
SaskMusic is excited to announce our FIRST show in our Autumn Concert Series with a FREE show at Bushwakker Brewing Company. Join us for three great artists and great food and drink! This is a licensed venue (no minors).
The artists include: Kateryna Grace, Whitey Somers, and Victory Howard performing at 7 p.m. on September 9, 2025!

Indigenous Music Series Photoshoot Sessions - Applications Open until September 9
In these sessions we've invited RaytheNihilist of Morning Owl Media to take professional photos for attendees while guiding the "Photoshoot Sessions".
The intent behind these sessions are to equip Indigenous artists, musicians, songwriters and other industry members with items they could use within their personal musical journeys.
Upon completion of the shoots, attendees will receive professional photos that they could use for a variety of reasons including applications for residencies and showcases, general promotional materials, and more!
Deadline: September 9, 2025 at 5 p.m. (CST).

Autumn Concert Series submissions open until September 22
SaskMusic is planning additional multi-artist concerts this autumn/winter. We are interested in gathering your info not only for our own presentations, but for other presenters that contact us looking for artists.
By submitting you help us assemble a list of artists currently interested in performing with your bio, links, etc. Priority is given to SaskMusic members in our own booking and when providing referrals to partners.

BreakOut West Registration
BreakOut West is happening September 24-28, 2025 in Winnipeg MB! Check out the conference speakers and agenda at breakoutwest.ca and register if you're planning to attend.
Call for Afrobeats Submissions:
SaskMusic is planning to distribute USB sticks containing tracks from Saskatchewan Afrobeats artists (including Afrobeats, Afrobeat, Afro-fusion, Amapiano, Afro-pop, Afrohouse, Afro-soul, Alte, HighLife and any Afro-influenced genres and styles) to attending delegates and industry professionals, with further information linked for each artist.
All Saskatchewan-based artists with tracks in these genres are invited to submit, regardless of whether you will be attending BOW this year.
What you need:
- Up to 2 track uploads in MP3 or M4A format ONLY. Tracks should be current - having been released after Sept 1, 2023, or as yet unreleased.
- Artist biography
- Artist promotional photo
- Permission to distribute your track/production ownership
Submissions will be screened for completeness and production quality to determine their inclusion. A maximum of two tracks per artist will be included. Once confirmed for inclusion, artists will be required to sign a release form giving SaskMusic permission to distribute your track(s) in this manner.

Saskatoon Music Day in Canada artists announced
Saskatoon, are you ready? Music Day in Canada will roll into town on Saturday, September 27, 2025 and will take place at Amigos Cantina (806 Dufferin Ave., Saskatoon SK)
Doors will open at 8 p.m., show starts at 9 p.m., and musicians include Halle Ponton, Vikki Minor, with headliners The Steadies!

Regina Songwriters Group returns with September 21 meeting
September means back to school for many, and we’re getting back to songwriting with our first Regina Songwriters Group Meeting of the season! Join us as we chat through ways to get back into songwriting after taking a break and work through some alphabet-themed songwriting prompts.
- Date: Sunday, September 21,
- Time: 7-9 p.m.
- Location: In person at the SaskMusic Office (1831 College Ave, 3rd floor) and via Zoom. (Please enter through West Side parking lot door. A staff member will be at the West Doors to let you in and provide further direction.)
Following the discussion, we'll have a song share - bring your latest pieces or those that you'd like feedback on to share with the group.
The Regina Songwriters Group exists to develop the craft of songwriting and provide a peer network of songwriters, lyricists, composers and beatmakers. Meetings are generally held once a month with additional songwriting exercises, resources and information shared on socials.
Bring your pen/paper, writing devices, and your guitar or main instrument if you wish to participate in the song share portion. PA, mics and a keyboard will be provided for use if needed.
Free to attend and songwriters of all skill levels welcome!

The 10th season of the Saskatoon Songwriters Group will meet for the first time in 2025-26 on September 7, 2025 with host Micheal Lander leading an open floor discussion!
Specifically, they plan to cover a wide array of topics including their plans for the group for the rest of the year. Come join in on the conversion and let your voice be heard for what you'd like to see the group do!

SaskMusic seeking expressions of interest for Black Advisory Committee
SaskMusic is currently seeking interested individuals to participate on our new Black Music Advisory Committee (BMAC), dedicated to uplifting and empowering the Black/African music community in Saskatchewan.
The committee will play a crucial role in guiding, advising, and supporting SaskMusic as we continue to better understand and meet the needs of Black (or those of African descent) artists, creators, and professionals in the province’s music industry.
Specifically, the committee will be consulted on various strategies, initiatives, and programs that ensure meaningful inclusion, representation, and support for Black musicians and artists in Saskatchewan, in an advisory capacity.

Free Drum Clinic September 5, Regina
Reuben Spyker is a drummer, artist, and drum educator from Abbotsford BC. He previously studied jazz at Capilano University and is known for his work with Drumeo and on his own YouTube channel. His course The Art Of Efficiency helps drummers fine tune their approach by expanding their tool box behind the kit with a focus on the push pull technique.
Take advantage of his FREE upcoming clinic “Applying Da Vinci's Genius To Your Drumming” to find ways to improve your technique and creativity.
Ronn Dunnett (Dunnett Classic Drums) and Jeff Woods (Woods Custom Drums) will also be on hand offering snare drum tune-ups and tips & tricks. Bring your snare drum (with stand) to the event!

Next Bandcamp Friday set for September 5, 2025
Have you marked your calendars for September 5 yet? Each Bandcamp Friday, 100% of the proceeds from sales, will go to artists you love.
Since Bandcamp Fridays began in March of 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic, donations from millions of fans have resulted in over $120 million going directly to labels and musicians they love.
In addition to helping artists pay the rent, or fund album recordings and tours, Bandcamp Fridays have also become a beacon for artists and record labels looking to raise awareness for causes or raise money for charities.

Creative Sask. funding deadlines approach for September
This month, Creative Saskatchewan has three deadlines you should be aware of! Make sure you've chatted with a Program Advisor and are putting finishing touches on those grants!
If you wish to book a consult with a SaskMusic mentor to review your grant application, please do so ASAP!
Marketing Grant - Micro Stream:
This grant provides support for marketing and publicity to improve visibility and generate sales. Up to a maximum of $5,000 per applicant per fiscal year (or 50% of the budget whichever is the lesser).
Tour Support Grant:
This grant supports commercially viable touring opportunities for eligible Saskatchewan musicians touring in Canada and abroad.
Sound Recording Grant:
This grant supports the production of commercially-viable sound recordings for promotional use and/or commercial release.
