Registration is now open for the Evolution Youth Music Summit:
Attend FREE in Regina, Friday February 23 or Saturday, February 24/24
*Apply for a demonstration performance by January 10*
Are you interested in music – maybe a musician, singer, or songwriter - and curious to learn more about performing and the music business? SaskMusic is offering an exciting opportunity for youth (age 14 to 25) to learn more about performing and professional music options.
Our Evolution Youth Music Summit will be a unique opportunity for you to receive information and guidance to get started in the right direction, and meet others who are passionate about music. We’re gathering working artists and industry professionals to mentor you through topics such as musicianship (with separate sessions for vocal, bass, guitar, etc), promotions, professionalism, stage skills, and other topics geared to those getting started in the music scene.
This one-day summit will be offered on two dates. You can attend on Friday, February 23 or Saturday, February 24. Space is first-come, first reserved and registration will close when we reach capacity. Meet the Mentor: Martina
Artists! Looking for help with organizing/tracking/prepping your music income & financials? Best practices in receipt & recordkeeping methods? Budget creation & reporting? CRA requirements as an artist? SaskMusic members can book a FREE consult with our newest Music Mentor Martina, owner of BackBeat Bookkeeping, who can help! Visit www.saskmusic.org/how-to/book-a-consult to request a time in January.
BackBeat Bookkeeping owner Martina is a self-proclaimed data and numbers geek, with 30 years of professional experience in bookkeeping, records and financial management, project planning, and process improvement from a variety of sectors including non-profit, education, and government. She holds 3 Diplomas in Administration, Bookkeeping, and Entrepreneurship, 2 years of university courses in Accounting and Psychology, as well as numerous professional development opportunities in facilitation, project management, and business.Martina is also a DIYer in her own songwriting, acoustic performing, and sound recording projects as Martina Music. She has spent the past 7 years combining a deep respect for the history of the music industry, while studying the complexities of the current digital & data-driven music industry. She carries the belief that life and songs are like puzzles into the world of taxes, and looks forward to assisting others in finding the right bookkeeping fit. Just like a great "backbeat" can make a song a hit, a great "numbers" system can help you succeed by "keeping time" to focus on your creations.
Keep an eye out for Martina's "Numbers Behind the Music" workshop coming in January 2024, and start your year off right with proper recordkeeping and financial management.
