RAD

Creative City Centre launches the RAD Program in Regina

The Creative City Centre is pleased to announce the launch of a new program designed to support emerging music artists: The Recording Artist Development (RAD) Program!  Many emerging artists need professionally recorded digital content when they are applying for grant applications or for performance opportunities, and with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts' Digital Now program, we are now launching the Recording Artist Development (RAD) Program.

This program will provide studio space for up to one month to write, rehearse and record original music.  As part of that month-long residency at the Creative City Centre, artists will have access to a professional audio engineer, plus limited access to producer, arranger, supporting musicians and videographer.  They will be able to spend time creating and experimenting in the studio, as well as learn best practices when it comes to recording in a professional studio setting.  They will learn how to prepare a budget for recording sessions and will also receive a one-year membership to SaskMusic to access their excellent professional development and industry support initiatives.

Export Program

Developing Your UK Market: Apply Now for Mentorship!

We are working with the UK-based Enki Music to provide direct information about the UK music market to SaskMusic members.

While touring internationally is difficult at the current time, progress can still be made in learning about options to release, market, tour and develop your team overseas. Topics of discussion may include things such as industry trends, how to market yourself as a foreign artist overseas, tour routing and festival markets, logistics, information on the publishing network, and more.

This program will be of interest to artists, bands, songwriters, and others. Spots will be provided in this intake to a range of artists, from emerging to export-ready artists.

Creative Saskatchewan Lunchroom Series Grant Workshop: Sound Recording Grant
Wednesday December 1, 2021 from 12:00-1:00pm

Join the Creative Saskatchewan team as they dig into the Sound Recording Grant. Learn the ins and outs of the grant and how it can help you get you and your music out there.

The Sound Recording Grant supports the production of commercially-viable sound recordings for promotional use and/or commercial release. Eligible expenses for the grant include recording and mixing at a Saskatchewan recording studio, mastering, album artwork, manufacturing and a 10% marketing allowance. Approved artists receive $1,500 for a single, $10,000 for an EP, or $15,000 for a full-length album. Since 2013, Creative Saskatchewan has helped many artists record new music and get it into the hands of their fans and grow markets. Perhaps this grant can do the same for you!

During the Lunchroom Series Grant Workshop, they'll chat about the program, the guidelines, review the assessment criteria, discuss the timing of your project alongside the program deadlines, and help you determine if this grant is right for your project.

Joining them in the lunchroom will be Jordan Cook from the band Reignwolf. Jordan has administered grants on behalf of Reignwolf for Creative Saskatchewan programs, including Sound Recording, and Market and Export – Major Stream. Jordan will share insights about the grant program from the application process through to the reporting phase, and how he made the most of the funding received.

The second and final deadline for this fiscal year's Sound Recording grant program is January 15, 2022 at 4pm. This lunchroom series workshop is a great chance to get all the info you need in order to apply! There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and hear some recording and marketing insights from fellow a musician. It's absolutely free and will be presented on Zoom... all you have to do is register and pack your lunch!
