CANADA’S MUSIC INCUBATOR AND SASKMUSIC BRINGING “ARTIST ENTREPRENEUR BOOTCAMP” TO REGINA

REGINA, Saskatchewan – Canada’s Music Incubator (CMI), in partnership with SaskMusic, will present an “Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp” in Regina, April 17-19, 2015, including a music business panel From Self-Managed to Managed”, April 17.

The three-day professional development bootcamp is a condensed version of CMI’s 10-week Artist Entrepreneur program, which mentors aspiring artists to not only survive, but to thrive in today’s music industry. A maximum of 15 individuals will be selected by CMI to take part in the bootcamp. Applications for these FREE spots are being accepted now; see submission link below.

Canada’s Music Incubator will survey and interview participating artists in the “Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp” ahead of time in order to gain a greater understanding of each artist’s general strategies, strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and needs. From there, CMI will identify key areas of focus and build action plans for the bootcamp, giving each artist who participates in the program significant individual attention.

Topics covered in the bootcamp include:

  • Establishing and running your business
  • Revenue streams and funding
  • Business communication and pitching yourself
  • Band/partnership agreements
  • Building your team (managers, agents, labels)
  • Music licensing and sync placements
  • Sponsorships, endorsements, and charitable partnerships
  • Marketing plans, branding, promotion and publicity
  • Social media audits and tactics
  • Touring logistics and booking

Facilitators of the “Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp” in Regina are:

  • Vel Omazic, executive director of Canada’s Music Incubator
  • Liam Killeen, day-to-day manager of Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker, Faber Drive, These Kids Wear Crowns, Treble Charger, and Greig Nori

The weekend will also include a music business panel open to all SaskMusic members, “From Self-Managed to Managed,” on Friday, April 17. More details on this event are available here.
