The Creative City Centre is excited to announce the second intake period for their SMMART training program is now open, with applications accepted until June 18, 2021.

What is SMMART?

SMMART stands for social media marketing for artists. Successful applicants to the program will be provided with opportunities to create professional digital content and develop social media strategies through an 8- week online training program. The course content was developed and is delivered in partnership with Strategy Lab, a Regina-based social media marketing firm, and our partners SaskMusic and Sâkêwêwak Artists Collective. At the end of the training program, the artists will have developed their own social media campaigns and gained the skills to continue to promote their work online. They will have performance videos and interview footage they can use to further their careers. Creative City Centre and partnering organizations will be monitoring the impact of the program by collecting statistical information through the next two years and beyond. As a pilot program, it is anticipated this information will be used to advocate for a longer-term investment into future training programs for the creative sector.

Who can apply?

Professional artists who are residents of Saskatchewan and working in the music, visual art or performing art sectors are eligible to apply. Each cohort will consist of 16 musicians, 14 visual artists and 10 performance artists (spoken word, theatre, dance, comedy, etc.). As part of our efforts toward reconciliation in Saskatchewan, we are aiming for equal representation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists in each cohort. The application deadline is June 18, 2021.The SMMART program has been funded by the Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund and by Creative Saskatchewan, as well as through our partnerships with SaskMusic and Sâkêwêwak Artists Collective.
