EMERGING TALENT SHOWCASE: Regina-based Rap/Hip Hop Musicians Submission Deadline: Midnight December 5, 2022 Regina’s On Cue Performance Hub, in partnership with SaskMusic, is organizing a Showcase of Regina-based Emerging Talent featuring dance artists and musicians working in Rap, Hip Hop and related genres. 30-minute sets by up to four bands will alternate with 15-minute spotlight appearances by dancers. The event will take place at The Exchange on January 14, 2023, 8:00-11:30PM. Bands will need to be available during the afternoon and evening of January 14 (from 3PM) for soundcheck and the show. In keeping with On Cue Performance Hub’s mandate to create space on Regina stages for emerging and underserved artists, this call is directed to musicians who have had limited professional opportunities for public performance and showcasing their work. Submissions from bands involving artists who self-identify as Indigenous, black, visible minorities, newcomers, Deaf or disabled (visible or invisible disabilities), women, non-binary, age or gender diverse are encouraged. Applicants must explicitly identify with an underserved group in this application in order for the jury (drawn from the industry) to consider the application as involving one or more underserved artists. This will be a fundraising event for Regina General Hospital’s mental health unit (1D), so admission will be on a donation basis. Artists, however, will be compensated for their performances at the local union rate of $150 for the leader of the group, plus $100 for each additional musician. All applications should be made online HERE and should contain a video or audio link showcasing up to 10 minutes of the musicians’ creative work, a professional performance and recording resume and headshots or a group photo of all artists included in the submission. On Cue and SaskMusic will contact successful artists by December 15. As Regina’s newest performing arts organization, On Cue Performance Hub is an incubator and cooperative producing platform featuring emerging and underserved artists, groups and small companies working across a wide range of performing arts disciplines. Its goals are to make it possible for artists to derive a more sustainable income from their creative work and to cultivate more diverse public engagement in support of Regina’s performing artists.
