SaskMusic Private Showcase
Deadline: November 23, 2022
Application Deadline: 5pm CST Wednesday, November 23/2022
SaskMusic is joining with BreakOut West, Manitoba Music, Alberta Music, and Music BC to present an in-person private showcase under the BreakOut West banner, February 1-3/2023 during the Folk Alliance International (February 1-5, 2023). Through this submission we will select one Saskatchewan act (solo artists, duos or full bands) who perform in folk, roots, and related genres to perform for and network with influential music industry professionals from the Canadian and international folk and roots community. Joining the SK artist selected through this process will be one additional SK artist who has received a FA Official Showcase invitation.
The Folk Alliance International Conference, presented by Folk Alliance International, is the world’s largest gathering of the folk music industry and community (crossing a diverse array of genres including Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Global Roots, Hip-Hop, Old-Time, Singer-Songwriter, Spoken Word, Traditional, Zydeco, and various fusions).
The 2023 conference will be held at the Westin Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, February 1-5, 2023.
To be considered for this showcase, you must be:
1) A performer in folk, roots or related genres (some of which are noted above)
2) Promoting a recent or upcoming release (single, EP, video, or full-length album)
3) Export-ready (able to capitalize on opportunities in Canada and internationally), see checklist in form for more info.
4) A current SaskMusic member and current resident of Saskatchewan
5) Available and legally able to travel to Kansas City
Artist selections will be made by a jury of industry professionals and peers. Folk Alliance will have final approval of selected artists.
The artist selected for this showcase is responsible for their own travel expenses, however, would be eligible to apply for showcase support through Creative Saskatchewan.
