Contest Opportunity: CBC Music's Searchlight 2024
Submissions are NOW OPEN and close on Tuesday, June 25th at 3:00pm ET.
Deadline: June 25, 2024
SEARCHLIGHT is back again with some exciting updates and the announcement of new sponsors for a few of our prize categories.
Here are some exciting things they have going on this year.
Prize Categories: They want to recognize artists for their excellence in categories that reflect important areas of music. The categories that you/your song will be automatically considered for are: 'Songwriting Prize' (sponsored by SOCAN), and if you qualify, 'Outstanding Indigenous Artist' (sponsored by The Indigenous Office), 'Top Teen'(sponsored by MusiCounts), and 'Outstanding Country Artist.'
Elite 50 List: The stakes are even higher this year. Instead of having a Top 100 list, They are on the hunt for Canada's Elite 50 emerging artists. There is no public voting. The entire Elite 50 list will be curated by music industry A&R representatives and CBC Producers, who will listen to and evaluate every song entered into Searchlight.
Exclusive exposure for those who make the Elite 50: CBC Music's Searchlight will only feature an Elite 50 artist gallery. This means they will no longer display every Searchlight entry on our website. The Elite 50 artists will also have their music added to an exclusive Searchlight stream on the CBC Listen app, available for the entire year (providing an opportunity for streaming income).
More incredible prizes...
With a prize package that includes the Allan Slaight JUNO Masterclass, Yangaroo/DMDS distribution package, a one week Recording Residency at the National Music Centre, a gift certificate from Long & McQuade for musical instruments, and CBC Music providing support through radio play, social media coverage, interviews and more to support our grand prize winner, this competition has more value to offer than any competition out there. A full list of prizes, including the list of prizes for secondary category winners can be found HERE.
This is an opportunity for artists, signed or unsigned, to tap into our resources and show us who is aiming for the JUNO stage in the future!
Artists enter the contest by uploading a song (mp3 or wav) and a YouTube video, and by filling out our easy-to-use entry form on our website
