National Indigenous History Month Concert Presentation
Thursday, June 24 at 7:00pm

SaskMusic and FACTOR Canada are presenting a special online concert in honour of National Indigenous History Month, airing 7pm Thursday, June 24 on SaskMusic’s Facebook and YouTube pages. More than a local dozen artists from different musical styles have been paired with video mentors to create unique music videos over the past weeks, and we’re excited to share this premiere with music fans. Tune in on the 24th, and watch for the lineup announcement coming soon.

Following June 25, the concert will also be available to watch on SaskTel maxTV Local on Demand.

SaskMusic AGM June 28

A reminder that our Annual General Meeting for 2020-2021 will be held on Monday, June 28, 8pm (Sask time) online. You must be an Individual, Band or Corporate Member of SaskMusic to vote on motions and elections presented during this meeting. Youth members are also welcome to attend this virtual event.

Members may vote in advance or on June 28 during the AGM, but not both. All votes will be combined to determine the final election results. Members have received a separate email containing further information.

Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre Musical Artist in Residence 2021

The City of Regina | Municipal Government, in partnership with SaskMusic, is seeking a Regina-area artist to create music, songs, sound art or musical material that speaks to their lived experience as an ethnocultural minority in Canada. The residency will provide the opportunity for a sound artist or musician to explore themes such as cultural heritage, cultural identity, traditions, customs, storytelling, racism, equality and diversity.

The Artist in Residence will operate out of the City of Regina’s Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre, Sept 1–Nov 1/21. The artist will be expected to dedicate a minimum of 30 hours per month over two months to develop musical content for the residency. The artist can work in any genre and may also work remotely. Deadline for interest is June 30.

Artists, do you want to learn how to 'do' social media more effectively? Apply now for the FREE training course called SMMART! In the process of learning social media marketing skills, you'll create new videos / content.

  • Applications accepted from Saskatchewan artists working in the music, spoken word or visual art sectors
  • Eight-week (one session per week) training program delivered online, developed and delivered in partnership with Strategy Lab, a Regina-based social media marketing firm, and partners SaskMusic and Sakewewak
  • Committed to ensuring equal representation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists in each cohort.
