Qualifying entities are not recipients of the CMF (Canada Music Fund). All beneficiaries must support the career development of Canadian artists. Entrepreneurs and organizations with revenues of $ 100,000 or more must have had a profit margin of less than 15% in their last fiscal year or at least since March 15, 2020.

  • Studios and Video Producers must offer commercial services, and must have a dedicated physical location.

What is it?

The Government of Canada is implementing the COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Cultural, Heritage and Sport Organizations (the Fund) to complement economic measures already announced by the Government of Canada, such as CERB (Canada Emergency Response Benefit), CEWS (Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy), CEBA (Canada Emergency Business Account) and CECRA (Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance for small businesses). This fund will help organizations ensure that they can continue contributing to their sector in the future. It is being administered by FACTOR (the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings).

Qualifying music associations: participate in the live music sector and do not normally receive funding from the Canada Music Fund (CMF); have had a profit margin of less than 15 percent since March 15, 2020; and at least 50% of the revenues of your last fiscal year came from eligible music-related activities related to Canadian artists OR demonstrate that your organization is essential in the ecosystem i.e. in the development of Canadian artists.
