Artist/Songwriter Keynote Interview with Aaron Goodvin
as part of the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards Weekend

The annual SCMAs take place this year in Saskatoon, including the kick-off party, showcases, songwriters in the round, awards shows and more.

SaskMusic is pleased to present a keynote interview with Aaron Goodvin on songwriting and his artistic path in music industry, Sunday April 14, 1:00-2:30pm at the Holiday Inn Downtown. Aaron will also be hosting the Saturday evening awards show, April 13 at TCU Place. 

Interviewed by SaskMusic's Lorena Kelly, we will discuss Aaron's path to success, his approach to songwriting, team building, managing his career and much more. 

The keynote is free for SCMA delegate badge holders and SaskMusic members, or $10 at the door. Everyone welcome, all ages.

Begonia Songwriter Challenge Mentor

Begonia Announced as 2019 Canadian Songwriter Challenge mentor
Applications now open! DEADLINE APRIL 15, 2019

In this songwriting retreat, taking place May 3-5, 2019 at RAIS in Saskatoon, a mix of nine songwriters will be selected and organized into groups of three to collaborate on new songs. Demos will be recorded of newly written songs at the end of the challenge in a two hour window. The group leader this year is acclaimed singer-songwriter Alexa Dirks (Begonia)

Songwriters chosen for this event will receive some class instruction on co-writing etiquette and agreements, and songwriting technique, and have an opportunity to network and establish permanent collaborative partnerships. A travel bursary is available for those selected who will be travelling from outside of Saskatoon. A detailed schedule will be distributed to accepted songwriters. 

The Canadian Songwriter Challenge is a multi-year partnership between the Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations (CCMIA) and Bell Media.

Songwriters considered for this opportunity must:
- Be available full days on May 4 & 5th, along with a seminar on the evening of May 3.
- Be a current SaskMusic member and resident of Saskatchewan
- Be at an intermediate to advanced level of songwriting (you have a catalogue of material, had material recorded, etc). Previous co-writing experience is not required.
- Be willing to enter into co-writing agreements specific to each song created during this event
- Agree to be photographed/videotaped for our reporting purposes

SaskMusic members of all genres are encouraged to apply. Participants from previous CSC events are welcome to apply again. A jury of industry professionals will select participants based on level of songwriting experience and, if possible, to reflect a range of genres.

There is no registration charge for those selected. Lunches and refreshments will be provided. Accommodations are at participants' own expense.

Bio Social Reviews

BIO & SOCIAL MEDIA REVIEW BLITZ!

Sooo...when was the last time you refreshed your artist bio, and took a good hard look at your artist-level social media? Are they saying everything you want (or don't want) them to? Do all your channels make it clear that you have a new single/album/tour happening? Is it easy to grasp who you are as an artist?

With grant deadlines forthcoming we figured now is a great time to offer up some dedicated time for one-on-one asset reviews. You can book a time now to meet with our professional consultants for an an objective review, and give 'em a polish up to head into the busy spring/summer season. We've got dedicated times available April 15-18. Reviews will be done privately through an online screenshare, and/or for those in Regina, you could come in to our office for an in-person review.

OSAC Showcase

OSAC Showcase 2019 - Now Accepting Applications 

Each October, the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils presents its annual Showcase Conference. OSAC Showcase is a booking conference for visual and performing arts, and includes a trade show area (Exhibitor Exchange), opportunities for networking, and professional development. OSAC is pleased to offer the very best of performing and visual talent from Saskatchewan, across Canada and internationally. Performing Arts Showcases are 20 minutes long. There are 14 showcases, juried and curated, and all performances will be held at the Broadway Theatre.
