September Export Missions

This is always a busy month for music industry export missions! We'll be at:

Country Music Week September 6-9, Hamilton ON

Looking forward to the conference and performances by the best in Canadian country including Sask's Jess Moskaluke and Hunter Brothers performing in official CCMA events, as well as numerous showcase events including the Saskatchewan Country Music Association / Manitoba Country Music Association showcase and Diamonds in the Rough showcase with Shantaia, Justin LaBrash, Jordyn Pollard, Mabaleka, Kalsey Kulyk, Aces Wyld, Samara Yung, and Tenille Arts.

AmericanaFest September 11-16, Nashville TN

We're back at the Americana Music Festival & Conference this year! CIMA’s Canadian Blast is presenting 8 Canadian artists this year, including Rosie & the Riveters.
Selected for the SaskMusic co-sponsored showcase events is Belle Plaine. We will be presenting, under the BreakOut West partnership banner, a private industry event on September 11, and the BreakOut West BBQ (an official AmericanaFest sponsored showcase) on September 13. These events are a partnership between Manitoba Music, Alberta Music and SaskMusic, and represent our sixth annual presentation in the Nashville market. 

Reeperbahn September 19-22, Hamburg DK
SaskMusic will also back at Reeperbahn, with business-to-business events, conference sessions and co-presenting Canada House showcases featuring 24 Canadian artists, September 20-21. We’re thrilled to have 3 Saskatchewan artists on the bill: Nick Faye, Rosie & the Riveters, and Shirley & the Pyramids.

We've opened the intake for our Private Showcase Opportunities at Folk Alliance International!

SaskMusic will be making our annual trip to FAI, in an international marketing partnership with BreakOut West partners. SaskMusic and our partners will present private showcases to the international music industry professionals who will be attending the festival and conference. Folk Alliance International is the major North American gathering point for artists, venues, talent buyers, record labels and anyone connected to the roots and folk genres. *Please note: This is a separate application from the Folk Alliance Official Showcases. If you are offered an official showcase, we will schedule around your times.*

BreakOut West and the Western Canadian Music Awards

Intro to SongwritingIntro to Songwriting (a Culture Days event)

Have you always wanted to write a song? This workshop, led by SaskMusic's Lorena Kelly, will be geared to those who are curious about how to write a song, or who at the beginning stages of their songwriting practice. (Please share!)

Using a couple of examples, we'll dissect the parts of a song and what their purpose is; examine different song forms; discuss what makes a strong lyric; give common chord progressions that you can start from; and where to begin with your song ideas.

Bring a notepad and something to write with. Suggested age range 14 years and up.
