Women in Music Saskatchewan – Regina Kickoff and Panel
MONDAY May 21 7pm

The Exchange, 2431 8th Ave, Regina

Announcing our first Regina WIMS event, Monday May 21 7pm.  If you are working in, participating in, or involved in the Saskatchewan music industry in any way and at any level, we invite you to come out to meet others and join the discussion.

On this date we'll discuss the intention of the group, and gather ideas and suggestions for moving forward. This will be a moderated discussion with panelists Mandy Ebel Myla, Sheryl Kimbley and Riva Farrell-Racette, with moderator Dr. Charity Marsh; followed by a meet & greet/networking time.

ALL are welcome (including children accompanying parents). This is a licensed event; there will be beverages and munchies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) of the Saskatchewan Recording Industry Association (SaskMusic) covering the period of April 1, 2017-March 31, 2018 will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018. You must be an Individual, Band or Corporate Member of SaskMusic to vote on any motions presented during this meeting. However, youth members and guests of members are welcome to attend as observers. Members and non-members alike are invited to join us for this event.

For information and agenda please see the AGM page. There are seven positions to be filled on the SaskMusic Board (each position is a 2-year term). Your signed form must be received at SaskMusic before 9am on Monday, June 4, 2018 in order for a Nominee to be included in the advance online voting process.

In addition to the usual AGM business, this year will feature a free brunch and beverages, live music performances, a memorial tribute and video highlights. We plan to live stream the event as well. Can't wait to see you all there!

Memorial tribute: If you know of someone involved in our Saskatchewan music community who has passed away this year, please forward their name and (if possible), a photograph to lorenakelly@saskmusic.org.

This year we are pleased to be a presenter at NXNE for their Curators Series, and will be presenting Sask artists at the Dakota Tavern, Toronto on June 13.  An open call for submissions recently closed and performers will be announced shortly. “NXNE is bringing back the club-hopping wristband with a twist, offering festival-goers the chance to discover the hottest acts brewing in Canada’s music scene. Some of the best up-and-coming bands in the country have been handpicked by a dream team of Canada’s music leaders.”

Canadian Song Conference Charlottetown

Congratulations to Shantaia Poulin who was selected as our Saskatchewan songwriter representative to participate in the Canadian Song Conference – PEI, May 23-26 in Charlottetown. An open call for this opportunity was circulated in February.

SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival: Jazz Intensive - Workshop Opportunity

The Festival is accepting applications from secondary and post-secondary students for the TD Jazz Intensive education program. Supporting the musicians of tomorrow by providing opportunities that will assist in their development, the week-long program runs from June 25-30 as part of the annual Festival. Under the guidance of distinguished jazz educators, participants are immersed in jazz workshops and performances which culminate with a featured public performance at The Bassment jazz club on June 30.

Call For Submissions

91.3FM CJTR, Regina Community Radio and CFCR 90.5FM Saskatoon Community Radio are pleased to announce a call for submissions for the compilation CD Got It Covered: Saskatchewan Musicians Play Each Other’s Music Vol. 2, sponsored by SaskMusic. Got it Covered is the second such volume of Saskatchewan cover songs after the success of the 2016 compilation of the same name. This compilation is a partnership between Regina Community Radio and Saskatoon Community Radio and will also be used for promotion and distribution to Canadian media and music industry professionals.
