On May 5, the 2015 Nominees for Western Canadian Music Awards will be announced at simultaneous press events to be held across Western Canada. There are over 30 different categories recognizing both Artistic achievement and Industry accomplishments.
We invite you to join us at the Saskatoon SaskMusic office as we announce this year’s official nomination list, and celebrate our Saskatchewan nominees. A networking reception will take place immediately afterwards and refreshments will be provided. This event is open to everyone.

BreakOut West and the Western Canadian Music Awards are the primary events hosted by the Western Canadian Music Alliance (WCMA) – an organization created by the music industry associations of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, The Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory – to promote and celebrate western Canadian music. Each year the event is held in a different western Canadian region on a rotational basis. This is our 13th year, and this year the event will be held in Victoria BC, September 17-20.
The event is comprised of a three-day music conference, a three-night multi-genre music festival (this year, running concurrently with the Rifflandia Festival), the Western Canadian Music Industry Awards Brunch and the Western Canadian Music Awards Gala. The BreakOut West Conference will run from September 18-20 at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Hotel Resort & Spa in Victoria BC.
BreakOut West is where the music industry gathers to celebrate, develop and support the best of western Canadian music. Western Canadian artists are developing sustainable careers of national and international scope. The Western Canadian Music Awards and Breakout West conference & festival are viewed on a national basis as an integral component, not just of a western Canadian artist’s development but perhaps more importantly, of the Canadian music industry as a whole. International industry professionals from around the world will add their expertise to the conference, networking with artists and delegates, with the intent to generate export opportunities for western Canadian music.
The 13th Annual Western Canadian Music Awards Gala will honour the excellence and achievements of Western Canadian artists on Sunday, September 20 at The McPherson Playhouse, Victoria BC. The Gala will highlight the best western Canadian acts in over 23 different award categories as well as feature performances by award winners/nominees. In recognition of outstanding contributions to our industry, a Heritage Achievement Award and a Hall of Fame Award will be presented to two worthy groups/individuals. WCMA winners are chosen by a combination of industry jury and WCMA membership voting.
The 13th Annual Western Canadian Music Industry Awards Brunch will provide an opportunity to celebrate industry leaders and people behind the music including managers, agents, labels, recording engineers and others on Saturday, September 19 at The Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Hotel Resort & Spa, Victoria BC. The event will highlight the winners of each Industry Award category as well as a special feature presentation on the Industry Builder Award recipient. The event will also include acoustic performances from nominated musicians and appearances by WCMA nominees, as well as a pre-awards brunch reception featuring food and beverages from the host region. WCMA winners are chosen by an industry jury.
