Red Truck International Recording Artist Eli Barsi is Red Hot!

Recording artist Eli Barsi brings the prestigious Wrangler Award home to Canada. She was honoured Saturday, April 12 in Oklahoma City, being the first Canadian woman to receive the bronze sculpture for ‘ Outstanding Western Composition for her song Portrait of a Cowgirl, by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

While in Oklahoma, Eli’s home province of Saskatchewan, Canada, held their 25th annual Country Music Awards (SCMA). Eli was also recognized at this event with 2 awards for the 2014 Roots Artist and Roots Album of the Year. Saskatchewan artists Blake Berglund and Stephen Maguire accepted on her behalf. Barsi is humbled by the simultaneous recognition from both sides of the border and thanks the Saskatchewan Country Music Association and its members for their great support.

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum Western Heritage Awards was first established in 1961 to honour and encourage the legacy of those whose works in literature, music, film, and television reflect the significant stories of the North American West. Each honoree receives a Wrangler, an impressive bronze sculpture of a cowboy on horseback.

Eli’s acceptance speech in Oklahoma included many thanks to some important people that have made a difference in her life & career: her Mom Georgina Barsi for the inspiration, husband John Cunningham for never ending love & support, Gary Bright from The RPS Entertainment Group in California for submitting her song for consideration. She also thanked her co-producer Bart McKay and the NCWH Museum for this honor and top shelf hospitality while in Oklahoma.

The Wrangler Award winning song, Portrait of a Cowgirl, is the third single released from Eli's 13th album with the same name. With this song Eli pays tribute to her Mom, who was once a one room school house teacher on the prairies of Saskatchewan, farmer's wife for 60 years, 4-H leader, and long standing community volunteer.

This comes on the heels of the Canadian release of this song & video. Barsi said, “I couldn’t be more pleased by this honour and it certainly is good timing. I wrote this song for someone that has inspired me my entire life, I never dreamed that this personal story would make such a difference to so many outside of my family. What a blessing!"

Eli’s new album can be found on iTunes (Eli Barsi - Portrait of a Cowgirl) and by visiting her website www.elibarsi.com.
