Description

Bev's stage debut was singing early blues classics in a Delta Blues duet in her home city of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She has also led a rock band; played with a world rhythm djembe drum group; and performed as a jazz vocalist for a decade, her extensive experience ultimately shaping her evolution as a Singer/Songwriter. Her music evokes the essence of some of her inspirations: Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, and Eva Cassidy. Since 2002, Bev has released two albums and three EPs of original material, and both designed and co-produced her latest album, Standing on a Platform of Kindness. Bev has been recognized for her community involvement and contribution to the arts with a YWCA Woman of Distinction in the Arts Jacqui Schumiatcher Arts Award.

Lifelong yoga practitioner, adventurous world traveller, and award winning language and literature teacher, Bev channels her creative energies into guitar study and writing songs to inspire social conscience, connection, and compassion. Having completed her teaching career in 2013, Bev now divides her time between travel, scuba diving, guitar, yoga and foreign language studies, performing, and volunteering.

Bev holds a Master of Education Degree with a Specialty in English Literacy, a Bachelor of Education Degree in French, and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in French, Social Studies, and Women’s Studies.

Whether sharing original lyrics or interpreting covers, Bev Zizzy is a singer / songwriter with something to say, and a voice with which to say it well. Her smoky vocal delivery is intense, innovative, and compelling, and her soul-baring, insightful, stories memorable, engaging, and inspiring.

    New Website Launch: www.bevzizzy.com

    December 6, 2014

For the past three weeks, I have been buried in my basement studio - otherwise dubbed the "troll hole" – working on a project that has been on my "to-do" list for 5 years, ever since my last website builder left town. 500 hours later - okay, maybe only 200 - I am very happy to say my website has been completely rebuilt by my very own, feeling slightly smarter, self. PLEASE check it out at bevzizzy.com and feel free to contact me if something does not work quite right – cause I can fix it all by myself —  feeling delighted.

    PAGO Grannies Benefit Concert

    November 11, 2014

The PAGO Grannies will host a benefit concert on Sunday, October 2, 2014 at Char's Landing, featuring Bev Zizzy.

Zizzy is a powerful singer/songwriter who is dedicated to the power of giving. Her original CD, titled Woman in Black, combined with her community work, earned her the 2009 Regina YWCA Woman of Distinction in the Arts Award.

Her performance history includes opening for Blues Hall of Fame Artist John Hammond, as well as sharing the stage with Colin James.

The PAGO Grannies are excited about the concert, which will raise local awareness about their group and the wonderful work being achieved by the Stephen Lewis Foundation with the grandmothers in Sub-Saharan Africa.

"I have a special place in my heart for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, and its affiliated Grandmothers for Grandmothers (G4G) Chapters," Zizzy said. "Since its inception, I have fundraised extensively with the Regina Chapter G4G, including co-ordinating a major music event in 2009 (featuring Little Miss Higgins) that was recorded by CBC, and performing recently at their annual Benefit Dinner last May. When my active PAGO Granny member sister-in-law heard I was going to be in town, well, the rest is history."

Zizzy will perform on Sunday, October 2 from 2 to 4 p.m.
