Brown would have us believe that this new album contains ‘a re-working of a classic hymn’ though it is much more than that. Utilizing an upright, vintage piano, the songs are an instrumental, meditative duet between player and instrument, creating an intimate and raw blend that takes us to a new level of understanding. The title track takes us beyond words with repeating notes while rhythms uplift and console at the same time. The spaces in the music in ‘Amazing Grace’ pull us into this old gospel song through Brown’s playing and composing ability. Music is another language and Brown is the interpreter.
