With hauntingly beautiful piano notes over a dark ambience, Polaris’ debut is as otherworldly as the title suggests. Her soft voice is perfectly complemented by piano melodies, never competing against each other. The emerging singer-songwriter shows her range of emotions with track “Metamorphosis”, which explores self-discovery and change in a sweet, hopeful piece -“and with my newfound wings/I’ll go places I’ve never been.” Meanwhile, the title track goes to a much darker place with lyrics like “Insomnia haunts your every dream/you find you wake up to a voiceless scream.” This songwriter’s debut is equal parts heartache and lullaby.
