Project Funding

The Project Funding Program supports the production of commercially viable sound recordings for promotional use and/or commercial release.

Intake Deadline: Applications are currently being accepted for the 5pm March 17, 2014 deadline. Applications are considered complete only when ALL required supplementary pieces have been provided to SaskMusic.

Funding streams available:

  1. Single or Demo Sound Recording: This stream assists with the production of a Single/Demo Sound Recording. It contributes to the production of a high-fidelity recording, which may then be released commercially, used for self-promotion, and/or to court the attention of labels/agents/producers. Eligible expenses include those related to the recording process and mixing (such as studio rental, musician and producer fees). Successful applicants must produce a minimum of 1 professionally-recorded song. Single/Demo Sound Recording projects must be completely recorded and mixed in Saskatchewan at Saskatchewan facilities and by Saskatchewan residents. Applicants may apply for up to 50% of approved expenses in the form of a non-repayable investment, to a maximum of $1,500 per intake.
  2. Commercial Sound Recording: This stream assists with the production of an EP/Album Sound Recording. The project must result in a minimum of 6 tracks or 30 minutes recorded material, intended for commercial release. Eligible expenses include those related to the recording of the album, mixing, and/or mastering (such as studio rental, musician, producer, and mastering facility fees) as well as production costs such as cover and liner art layout/graphic design. Applicants must submit all budgeted expenses in the project budget including those incurred outside of Saskatchewan. SaskMusic will allow up to 100% of eligible expenses incurred in Saskatchewan at Saskatchewan facilities by Saskatchewan residents up to a maximum of 50% of the total eligible project budget. Support funds cannot be applied to the cost of pressing, shipping, or customs. Applicants may apply for up to 50% of approved expenses in the form of a non-repayable investment, to a maximum of $10,000 per intake.
