Girls Rock Saskatoon is pleased to announce our third-ever Girls Rock Camp: All Grown Up! If you’re a grown-up who’s always wanted to learn an instrument and be in a band, this is the weekend for you. Girls Rock Camp: All Grown Up is a fundraiser in support of our kids’ camps taking place in July 2018.

Who: any woman, trans, two-spirit, or gender-non-conforming adult aged 19 and up who wants to learn an instrument and collaborate with a band.

What: a weekend-long mini-camp where participants will receive lessons in drums, guitar, bass, or keys, form a band, write a song, and perform for their fans!

If you’d like to participate but the registration fees will present a barrier for you, please let us know when you register. No previous musical experience is required to participate! All instruments and supplies will be provided.

Where: Queen’s House of Retreats, 601 Taylor St W, Saskatoon, SK. This is an accessible facility. The Showcase Concert will take place at Amigos Cantina.

When: March 16-18, 2018. The daily schedule is as follows:
Friday, March 16 from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Saturday, March 17 from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm with an optional social to follow
Sunday, March 18 from 11:00 – 4:00.

There will be a dress rehearsal open to all ages on the Sunday afternoon. The Showcase will take place on Sunday evening at Amigos.

Price of participation:  AGU was created for two reasons: as a fundraiser for GRC, and to provide a camp with the same mission for grownups. Don’t you wish you could have gone to GRC when you were a kid, we sure do! We’d love for you to contribute to our fundraising goal, but if finances are a barrier to participate, we still want you to apply and we’ll work with you to reduce the barriers to your participation. This could include payment options (eg. paying in multiple installments), a sliding scale price, and sponsorship).

Sliding Scale: We try to keep camp costs as low as possible. For example, everyone volunteers their time! The cost of putting on camp is $275/participant. If you can afford this, great! If you can afford to pay more than this to help create opportunities for others to participate, great! If you cannot afford $275, that’s cool too. You’ll be able to let us know that in the application form, and we will help eliminate the cost barrier for you.

Meals will be provided during the weekend. Participation in the full weekend is essential, so please keep your schedule clear!
