Winner of the 2020 SaskMusic award for Indigenous Artist of the Year, the North Sound was formed by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Forrest Eaglespeaker and his singer-songwriter partner Nevada Freistadt. Keeping true to the traditions of Forrest’s heritage, the North Sound was created to share stories of his Blackfoot identity and traditions from Treaty 7 Territory. While Forrest’s lyrics deal with themes of loss, grief, addiction, despair, and living in chaos, a positive message of hope and connection is at the core of his art and Forrest hopes to create a positive impact on all communities. The Bassment show will feature the release of the North Sound’s latest album, What it Takes.
