When Romi Mayes first heard Lucinda Williams’ album Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, she found Lucinda’s songs to be gritty, sexy, loose, and breathy and that they were for her inspiring and achievable. Now after more than 20 years of talking about it, Romi has rounded up her band to celebrate Lucinda Williams’ 70th birthday and to put together a complete Lucinda Williams show. From sweet ballads to dirty bluesy rockers, they’ve found a way to capture the essence of Lucinda Williams’ songwriting and style, while still keeping the heart of the Romi Mayes sound.
