Saskatchewan Jazz Fest presents The Russell Malone Quartet

Who

The Russell Malone Quartet

When

  • June 25, 2018

Touring in support of his new album Time for the Dancers, Russell Malone makes his long awaited return to the Festival. As one of the signature guitar players of his generation Malone possesses phenomenal technique, a warm luminous tone, an innate sense of swing, and his distinctive chording. The set will consists of a wide range of songs including funk, ballads, and uptempo hard bop tunes.

The leader of ten albums since 1992, Malone is as well-known on the international circuit for helming a world class quartet and trio as he is for his long-standing participation in Ron Carter’s Golden Striker Trio, and his recent consequential contribution to the musical production of the likes of Sonny Rollins and Dianne Reeves, who recruited Malone for his singular tone, refined listening skills, limitless chops, and efflorescent imagination.

This latest recording is further proof that Russell Malone is one of the top guitarists in jazz, here backed by a superb trio of masterful musicians.

Featuring Russell Malone - guitar, Rick Germanson - piano, Willie Jones lll - drums, and Luke Sellick - bass
