The Good Lovelies w/ Moscow Apartment

When

  • June 5, 2018 - Showtime: 7:30pm

You hear it a lot these days – the idea that something is greater than the sum of its parts – and yet there’s really no better way to describe the musical essence of the Good Lovelies. Kerri Ough, Sue Passmore, and Caroline Brooks – immensely talented vocalists and songwriters in their own right; however, it’s their voices interwoven in harmony – powerful and pure, organic and inspiring – that elevates the Good Lovelies from impressive to peerless. Over the course of their decade-plus career, they’ve covered plenty of stylistic ground, adding tinges of pop, roots, jazz, and even hip-hop to their country folk core at various points.
The Good Lovelies have graced our stage in recent years for their popular Christmas tour – and we’re really looking forward to this tour around their new album SHAPESHIFTERS!
"Shapeshifters is a brilliant album and, in a sense, the beginning of a new chapter in the musical life of the Good Lovelies.” -- Spill Magazine
"Rhythms here sway and swing like a Bahamas record (check out Take Me, Take Me or Pulse and Flatline) and the richly textured vocal treatments at times recall the work of Pierre Marchand and Sarah McLachlan.” -- Winnipeg Free Press

Moscow Apartment
Chosen as the Young Performers of the Year at the 2017 Canadian Folk Music Awards and Best Young Songwriters at the 2017 Toronto Independent Music Awards, Moscow Apartment is driven by a mixture of sweet harmonies and belted refrains, acoustic shimmer and electric crunch, and the clever wordplay of multi-instrumentalists and versatile vocalists Brighid Fry and Pascale Padilla.
The heart of their work is songcraft with a power and heft beyond their years, but that still draws from the dreams and worries of youth. The resulting songs slip and shift through traditional folk, pop, and post-punk to create a distinct kind of indie rock that moves your feet even as it catches in your throat.
