Ryan Hicks and his band present his brand new album live in the Exchange. Pulsing Colours is a concept record of all of the thoughts, moods, and emotions that can come to us in the night. The star-studded record has Regina artist Hicks joined by Jeff Romanyk (Rah Rah), Michael Dawson (Library Voices), Amy Nelson (a solo singer with a current Top 10 country single in Australia), and more. The album features memorable melodies, rich sonic landscapes, and lyrical depth.

Juniperus

In 2007, Jeffrey Popiel began a passionate pursuit of music recording under the name Minor Matter. In 2013, as Minor Matter had become a more established performing ensemble, he changed his solo project name to Juniperus. His inspired originals have more recently taken on a new life with the pursuit of ÆSOP's Fables. While these new fable-songs reside in the realm of folk, they present themselves in a diverse way, swaying between ambient, quirky pop, and blues tangents.

In performance, Juniperus presents these songs playing classical guitar or batirone ukulele, along with bass clarinet accompaniment (Adrianna Dyksman), and bassoon accompaniment (Stephanie Unverricht). During each song, Jeffrey sings with distinct character and narrator voices to lend another dynamic beyond a variance in musical style. The addition of Ed Mendez to the team has provided an opportunity for a more visual dimension. Ed is well versed in puppetry, having been involved with Wide Open Children's Theatre group. Upon request, Ed was thrilled to take on the challenge of designing the shadow puppetry for each song.

The playful nature of most of Juniperus' songs lend themselves best to light-hearted individuals and children, though the presentation is intended to intrigue most any audience.

Advance tickets are $10 and are available at Sawchyn Guitars and online at Picatic. $15 at the door. All ages and licensed.
