The Blenders Music Series presents the band Sam Spades on Saturday, January 27th at the Lyric Theatre in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Sam Spades is a high energy, rockabilly band from Edmonton, Alberta who add new twists on traditional rockabilly songs. Don’t miss this fantastic performance at the Lyric Theatre!
Sam Spades was named after the lead character in Dashiell Hammett’s novel “The Maltese Falcon” and was formed in the fall of 2013. The band has been growing its fan base by playing in various concerts, clubs, and festivals around Western Canada. Sam Spades consists of accomplished musicians including John Richards on upright bass, Greg Hann on drums, Trevor B. McNeely on lead guitar, and Sam Heine on guitar and lead vocals.
Greg Hann has toured nationally and internationally with the celtic band Sprag Session and has been featured on recordings that have won numerous East Coast Music Awards. John Richards has played at The Alberta Music Series and The Beaumont Blues and Roots festival. Trevor McNeely performed at the Edmonton, Canmore, and Brandon Folk Festivals. Finally, Sam Heine has performed at the Jasper Folk Festival and the Robison Mountain Music Festival.
Recently, Sam Spades released their debut record “Wolf” in January of 2015. As Jamie Robash from The Equal Ground said, “With Wolf, Sam Spades has made a classic blues and rockabilly album that sounds as fresh and relevant as the throw-back bands that they’ve chosen to emulate. And for any fans of rockabilly Wolf would be an excellent record to add to your collection”. This is truly going to be a spectacular performance and not one to miss!
