BIO
Del Suelo is a Saskatchewan based artist that makes art combining writing and music. In 2016 he released a 10 chapter/10 song combination project titled I Am Free which received an honourable mention at the Tidewater Independent Book Awards (2106) and the Hollywood Book awards (2017). The text was translated and released in Germany in May of 2017.
The songs from “I Am Free” have been performed everywhere from pubs to libraries across Western Canada and Northern Europe. The song’s have been played on CBC Radio 1, and Campus Radio in canada. The song “New Contest” was Top Track’s number 1 song for over two weeks.
Artistic directors of music festivals and literary conferences often don’t know what to do with Del Suelo — the body of work presented is not that of a conventional band or author. It is genre defying. It is unique. One thing for certain: the words are insightful, and the musical performance is entertaining. Audiences love hearing a new perspective. Del Suelo has performed at a number of music festivals including the Gateway Music Festival, All Folk’d Up and the Bow Valley Jamboree. He has given book talks through the SK Writers Guild and at numerous bookstores. Del has presented at literary conferences, such as “When Words Collide” Literary Festival in Calgary, AB.
A new novel+album combo, is anticipated from Del Suelo in 2018.
