WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9th – SaskTel Grandstand – Alessia Cara!
Show is FREE with admission to the Saskatoon EX

Alessia’s mature pen game is matched by her larger-than-life voice; she’s dazzlingly chameleon-like, boasting the kind of versatility that will make her a force. In short, Alessia has cause to be confident. But she’s still the bashful, small-town girl even in the big city: “You don’t think you’re ever going to end up here from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Instead, you think, ‘Who’s going to see me?’ I can’t wrap my head around everything that’s happened: the chemistry with Sebastian, the producers, the label. Def Jam got what I am trying to do: I want my music to be cool and reflective of my influences –Drake, Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran– but still new.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 10th – SaskTel Grandstand – The Strumbellas!

2016 started with a bang for The Strumbellas when their first single, Spirits, rocketed onto the airwaves around the world. The song perched itself at #1 on the radio charts of several countries. It was certified Double Platinum in Canada and Italy and Gold in America, Germany and France. Spirits, which launched their album, Hope (released on Glassnote and Six Shooter (Canada) on April 22nd), was just the tip of the iceberg for the year this band from Lindsay, Ontario was about to have. They left home and went on tour, hitting up all of the biggies, including Lollapalooza, ACL, Rock en Seine, London’s Hyde Park and Festival d’Ete.

They wrapped up the year winning iHeart Radio Awards ‘Best New Alternative Rock Artist of the Year’ and beat out Drake, The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes to nab the JUNO Award for ‘Single of the Year’. The Strumbellas got their start in 2009 with their eponymous EP release, which was peppered with accolades from Toronto weeklies and prompted a proclamation from the CBC that they are a “band to watch.” Since then, the group has been on the road earning their stripes through sold-out residencies at different clubs in Toronto, as well as several cross-country tours and summer festivals.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 11th – SaskTel Grandstand – BLUE RODEO

One of Canada’s most iconic bands, Blue Rodeo will release their 14th studio album, 1000 Arms, on Friday, October 28. 1000 Arms was recorded over the winter of 2015/16 at Blue Rodeo’s Woodshed Studios. The album shares its name with the Jim Cuddy-penned song inspired by a podcast Jim was listening to.

In the thirty years since forming, Blue Rodeo have sold over 4 million albums, won countless Juno awards, been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, been named to the Order of Canada and have been honoured with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award.
