With the look of a Hollywood leading man and the build of a professional athlete, people who see him for the first time often ask "who is he?" If you were to pose that question to George Canyon himself, he'd immediately tell you that he's a dedicated husband and a proud father of two. Family being his first priority, Canyon, a man of Faith, abandoned his musical aspirations years ago to work as a bylaw officer in order to support his family. His wife, Jennifer, urged him to keep writing songs and performing, however George felt that it was no longer practical, and put music on the back burner. In 2004, Jennifer persuaded him to audition for U.S.A Network’s "Nashville Star"- an internationally televised performance competition. Canyon competed, and wowed audiences worldwide with his undeniable talent. The rest is history punctuated by industry accolades, achievements and sustained success.

Now considered a Canadian country music legend, Canyon is hot off the heels of his near 40 date “Jekyll and Nothing To Hide” 2016 cross Canada tour, which began in Calgary on February 5th, and recently wrapped in Ottawa on March 20th. George’s new album “I Got This” debuted #1 Canadian Country album at its time of release (Feb 5th, 2016), and held the top spot for 5 weeks! The first single, and title track went Top 10 in Canada at Country radio. His new single, entitled “Daughters Of The Sun” was released to Country radio on March 29th and is already poised to be a summer smash for Canyon.

“I Got This” marks Canyon’s eleventh full-length release in a career that spans nearly two decades and includes the GOLD-certified albums “One Good Friend”, “Classics”, “Somebody Wrote Love” and the Richard Marx produced “Better Be Home Soon”. With 400,000 albums sold worldwide, multiple major acting roles on television, and the 2015 launch of his radio show “Down East Country with George Canyon”, the singer-songwriter has cemented his status as a bona fide multi-faceted artist and performer.

A Nova Scotia native, Canyon was recently inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame and has been widely decorated with a number of accolades including multiple CCMA and ECMA Awards in addition to his multiple JUNO Award wins. As the national spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and a vocal advocate and supporter of the Canadian Military, Canyon was also presented with the CCMA “Humanitarian of the Year” Award in recognition of his philanthropic endeavours with both organizations.
