Description
Jordan grew up in the Saskatoon music scene of the late 90s/early 2000s drumming in post-rock band Blood Music and electro-pop outfit Linus Hemmingway, as well as playing keys with prog-rock wizards Mahogany Frog. In 2005, he set off to Montreal where he honed his speed and endurance with technical death metal band, Derelict. After almost a decade of shows. tours and releases (with Derelict, as well as fellow Sask artists Dumb Angel and Tessa Kautzman), Jordan has now returned to his roots where he's reconnected with the Sask scene backing up pop artist Farideh (former member of Rosie & the Riveters) and francophone indie-folk artist Eemi at the Saskatoon Jazz Fest and Ness Creek Music Festival in 2022.

Jordan Perry Unveils Raw, Heartfelt Single ‘Professor Ex’ Amidst Divorce Recovery, Set for Release at Cyberfest 2024
September 30, 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Saskatoon, SK – September 30, 2024
Emerging artist Jordan Perry is set to release his deeply personal new single, Professor Ex, on October 11, 2024. A poignant portrayal of emotional upheaval, the song chronicles Perry’s journey through the fallout of his divorce, serving as both a raw confession and an artistic catharsis.
Written in the turbulent months following the end of his marriage, Professor Ex explores the messy, unpredictable process of healing. Reflecting on the track, Perry shares, “It was just under a year into Covid - my marriage had fallen apart, my life was in shambles, and I found myself radiating bad vibes from the spare room of my friend's house in Kelowna. My wife and I had been separated for months, and I'd developed a nasty pattern of feeling over her one minute, and devastated by her loss the next. Wrestling with the idea that healing isn't linear, I wrote this song.”
Musically, Professor Ex is a nostalgic fusion of early 2000s pop/rock, reminiscent of acts like Tatu and Evanescence, enhanced with a contemporary electronic twist. Perry’s vocal performance stands out, smoothly shifting from a David Gahan-like baritone to a haunting falsetto, evoking comparisons to Active Child. The track is driven by Perry’s signature vocal hooks and commanding drum work, making it a compelling listen for both longtime fans and new audiences.
Professor Ex will be released alongside Perry’s live performance at Saskatoon’s highly anticipated Cyberfest 2024, an event celebrating synthwave and dark electronic music. The festival, also featuring artists Theo Noble and Ka Lok, will take place at the Green Room on October 11, 2024—the same day as the single’s official release. Tickets are $10, and the event promises to be an electrifying celebration of music, community, and emotional expression. More info can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1280672442921484
